Bradl: “I didn’t feel comfortable braking”

Braking issues ended hopes of a point scoring finish for Stefan Bradl as the season comes to an end at the Valencia GP.
Stefan Bradl had shown great pace throughout the Valencia GP weekend and was hopeful of a strong end to the 2015 season. The German made an excellent launch from 13th on the grid, running the opening laps of the race inside the top 11. After the promising opening laps, he unfortunately started to fade as the race went on as he encountered problems when braking with the front brakes. This led to the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini using more rear brake to get his RS-GP stopped, in turn using up the tyre quicker.
The last five laps were an exercise in just staying up, the grip completely gone and as a result he dropped to 18th. It has been a difficult season for Bradl who started the year with Forward Racing before an injury and team issues saw him leave and join the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. Aprilia offered Bradl a lifeline and the pair has been successful in the closing half of the season. 2016 will see Bradl and Aprilia remain together with testing beginning on Tuesday.
Stefan Bradl: “It’s a shame because throughout the entire weekend we were fast and we prepared well for the race, but unfortunately today we were unable to repeat our performance from practice. I didn’t feel comfortable braking. I struggled to stop the bike and I was forced to use the rear brake a lot, so I stressed the rear tyre too much. That meant that in the last five laps I didn’t have any more grip and I dropped back quite a few positions, which I was very disappointed about.”
