Iannone: “I expect to be up there fighting at the top"

Iannone is encouraged by the performance of his Ducati on the Michelin
tyres and thinks he will be able to be competitive in 2016.
Ducati Team’s Iannone bounced
back from his DNF at the Valencia GP to put in a hard days work testing
his GP15 on the new Michelin tyres and finished in second, just 0.088s
off the pace of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda). The Italian, who crashed
twice at turn 3 during the day, completed a total of 61 laps, setting a
best time of 1’31.639.However his team did not bring the new Desmosedici GP16 to Valencia to test, instead preferring to wait until next year's Sepang test to give it its debut.
Andrea Iannone: “I think that today was a positive day, because we did a lot of laps and understood a lot of things, so it’s a good start. This is only the second time that I have tested the Michelin tyres and in the end I am quite satisfied because, even though we still have to work to optimise the details, I think that we have responded well to this important change. I’m sorry about the crash, but at the end of the session we made a modification that clearly did not work. Today the 2016 MotoGP season got underway and next year I expect to be up there fighting at the top with the best riders. I’m very confident and convinced I belong to a great group of guys.”
