Dovizioso: “I am not riding the way I want”
Another
difficult race for Andrea Dovizioso who ends seventh after a promising
start at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana.
A strong launch from the third
row saw Andrea Dovizioso end the first lap in fifth, just behind fellow
Ducati Team rider Andrea Iannone. The first 12 laps saw the Italian
maintain fourth position, unfortunately unable to hold the pace of the
leading trio. As the race wore on, Dovizioso dropped further and further
behind and was passed by many riders, ending the race down in seventh
place. Recent rounds have seen Dovizioso unable to find a competitive
setting on the GP15, on Sunday he felt he was unable to make the
difference in the race. Seventh in the race, and seventh overall, is a
disappointing end to the year for the Ducati rider after an incredible
run of three podiums at the start of 2015.The 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship concludes with Dovizioso having taken five podiums, including three-second place finishes, and a pole position. Although Ducati were unable to achieve their goal of winning a MotoGP™ race, it is clear they are making progress and are no longer struggling to finish inside the top five as they were only a few years ago. Testing for 2016 kicks off on Tuesday in Valencia, Dovizioso ready to begin working with the new tyres and electronics of the new season.
Andrea Dovizioso: “Obviously I cannot be satisfied with today’s result, because I am not riding the way I want and am unable to get the best potential from the bike. Some of the characteristics of the GP15 make it difficult for me to make the difference, and so I hope that we will manage to make the right modifications next year, taking advantage of next season’s regulation changes.”
